Sheikh Qassim Accuses Arab Regimes of Serving US & Israeli Interests

Bahrain’s highest Shiite religious authority, Sheikh Isa Qassim, accused Arab governments of serving the interests of the US and Israel by deliberately fueling sectarian tensions and internal conflicts in their own region.

In a statement on Sunday, the top cleric argued that “no government in the Arab and Islamic worlds can claim ignorance of the explicit declarations issued by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, their political plans and malicious schemes, or the poisonous rhetoric of division spread by their sophisticated and deceptive media.”

“Yet despite widespread awareness of this hostile conspiracy targeting both Arabs and non-Arabs across the Arab and Islamic worlds, a considerable number of the very states under threat have become participants in creating mutual enmity and internal wars under the banner of sectarianism and religious division,” the cleric added.

“It is as though they take satisfaction in watching both the Arab and Islamic worlds burn, and as though they will not rest until both nations are reduced to obedient servants of American arrogance and tyranny, allied with the Zionist entity occupying Palestine and supported by most of the Arab world’s ruling regimes.”
