Bahraini Monarch Hosts Saudi Crown Prince For Discussion On Latest Regional & International Developments

The Bahraini monarch Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa described Saudi Arabia as “a state of security, safety, justice and rights” as he hosted the Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Manama on Sunday.

According to a statement released by Manama’s royal court, the two discussed the “latest regional, Arab and international developments”.

Bahrain is the second leg of Bin Salman foreign tour, which includes the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and the G20 Summit in Argentina.

The trip comes amid the deepening crisis over the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which has placed unprecedented international pressure on the monarchy in Riyadh.

Bin Salman’s Manama visit also comes at a time when Israel is seeking to establish diplomatic ties with Gulf monarchies, including Bahrain.

Regional experts argue that the accelerated unveiling of this alliance is mainly aimed at challenging Iranian interests across the Middle East.
